NBL Round 33 (Regular Season): Adelaide top NZL Breakers by three after a very close game

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in NBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Seventh-ranked Breakers (12-20) were very close to win a game against second ranked Adelaide 36ers (23-9) in Findon on Saturday. Adelaide 36ers managed to secure only three-point victory 92-89. However their fans expected much easier game. Adelaide looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for guard Bryce Cotton (182-1992, college: Providence, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with 42 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Forward Zylan Cheatham (203-1995, college: Arizona St.) contributed with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright (180-1995, college: Arizona) answered with 25 points and 7 assists for NZL Breakers. Adelaide keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Sydney. NZL Breakers at the other side keep the seventh place with 20 games lost. They share the position with Illawarra H.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

American point guard Kendric Davis (183-1999, college: Memphis) stepped up and scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and Tyler Robertson chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international power forward Samson Froling (209-2000, college: Creighton) with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kings have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Sydney keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Adelaide. Illawarra H. at the other side dropped to the seventh place with 20 games lost. They share the position with NZL Breakers. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 33: Melbourne Utd beat Cairns on the road 89-85. Perth destroyed Brisbane on its own court 94-75. Tasmania JJ unfortunately lost to SE Melbourne in a road game 104-120.
The most impressive performance of 33th round was 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds by Majok Deng of Tasmania JJ.



Cairns - Melbourne Utd 85-89

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked United (19-13) beat 9th ranked Taipans (9-23) in Cairns 89-85. American Milton Doyle (193-1993, college: Loyola, IL) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and Dutch center Jesse Edwards (211-2000, college: WVU) chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Jack McVeigh (203-1996, college: Nebraska) with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American Andrew Andrews (188-1993, college: Washington) scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Cairns players scored in double figures. Melbourne Utd maintains fifth place with 19-13 record. Cairns at the other side keep the ninth position with 23 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Sydney made 30-of-36 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Sydney outrebounded Illawarra H. 44-33 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sydney players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Illawarra H. was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Kendric Davis (183-1999, college: Memphis) stepped up and scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and swingman Tyler Robertson (198-2000, college: Portland) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Kristian Doolittle (201-1997, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up and scored 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and the former international guard Elijah Pepper (193-2001, college: UC Davis) chipped in 20 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Hunter Maldonado (201-1999, college: Wyoming, agency: Octagon Europe) with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and New Zealand center Tyrell Harrison (214-1999) scored 9 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Wildcats. Perth maintains fourth place with 20-12 record. Brisbane lost their twelfth game in a row. They stay dead last with 26 lost games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Rather predictable result when third ranked Phoenix (22-10) won against 6th ranked JackJumpers (14-18) in Melbourne 120-104. SE Melbourne players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists. The former international guard Nathan Sobey (190-1990, college: Wyoming) stepped up and scored 19 points and 9 assists for the winners and the former international guard Angus Glover (192-1998) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was South Sudanese forward Majok Deng (205-1993, college: ULM) with 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and international forward Josh Bannan (208-2001, college: Montana) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SE Melbourne maintains third place with 22-10 record behind leader Sydney. Defending champion Tasmania JJ keeps the sixth position with 18 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
