Fujian Sturgeons (CBA) signed 31-year-old American 183cm point guard QJ Peterson (college: VMI, agency: JCK Sports Group). He began the season with Illawarra Hawks in the Australian NBL league. In 26 games, he averaged an impressive 15.3ppg, 3.3rpg, and 3.5apg. He was also named League Player of the Week.
In 2018, a year after graduating, he was drafted by Lakeland Magic (G-League) in the first round (24th overall).
Peterson graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 2017 and is currently in his ninth season playing professional basketball.
He is a very experienced player. Peterson has traveled quite extensively during his pro career, playing in eleven different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, and North America). He has played professionally in Australia, Cyprus (APOEL Nicosia), Denmark (Bakken Bears), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros), Turkey (Gaziantep), Ukraine (Mykolaiv), Czech Republic (USK Praha), South Korea (Anyang), China (Jilin Tigers, Flying Tigers, and Monkey Kings), NBA Summer League (NY Knicks), and The Basketball Tournament (GCG, Gutter Cats, Assembly Ball, and Dream 34).
Peterson won the Danish League championship title in 2021. He was selected to the Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese League Honorable Mention in 2025.
