The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Noarlunga City Southern Tigers in Morphett Vale on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Central District Lions 116-82. C.District L. dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Noarlunga City Southern Tigers's 50. C.District L. outrebounded Southern T. 54-42 including 18 on the offensive glass. C.District L. looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Forward Deng Manyang (201-2007) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field) for the winners and forward Magok Manyang (206-2002, college: MACU) chipped in 32 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Devin Fortune (198, college: Pacific, OR) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Noarlunga City Southern Tigers' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Central District Lions is looking forward to face Sturt S. in Pasadena in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Noarlunga City Southern Tigers will play at home against Norwood F. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very significant was Forestville E.'s 94-87 road victory against Eastern M.. The former international center Daniel Johnson (212-1988, college: Pepperdine) nailed 25 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side and Alexander Starling accounted for 12 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Forward BJ Symons (-1998) came up with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for Eastern Mavericks in the defeat. Forestville E. will play against S.Adelaide P. in Park Holme in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Eastern M. will play on the road against N.Adelaide R. in Greenacres and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Pasadena between Sturt Sabres and South Adelaide Panthers. Sturt Sabres got a very close home victory over South Adelaide Panthers. Sturt Sabres managed to escape with a 3-point win 96-93 on Saturday evening. Jacob Rigoni fired a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Jeremy Smith produced 23 points and 7 assists for lost side. Sturt Sabres will meet C.District L. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. South Adelaide Panthers will play against Forestville E. in Goodwood and hope to win that game.
In the last two games of round 1 W.Adelaide B. won against N.Adelaide R. on the opponent's court 104-95. Norwood F. lost to Woodville W. in a home game 60-98.
