American Guard Lanyc Shuler (185-G) had an amazing evening in the last round for Warrandyte Venom, receiving a Hoops Agents Big V Player of the Week award for round 1.
The player tried to help (45 points, two rebounds and nine assists) his team in a lost game to RMIT (#5, 1-0) 90-93. Venom is placed at 6th position in Australian Big V. Warrandyte is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 1st lost game this season out of 2 games. In the team's last game Shuler had a remarkable 64.7% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 12 attempts. He just recently signed at Venom and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Former West Liberty University star has very solid stats this year. Shuler is in league's top in points (3rd best: 37.5ppg), assists (2nd best: 7.5apg) and averages impressive 4.5spg and 61.1% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was American Devon Vanderheydt (198-F) of RMIT University. Vanderheydt had a very good evening with a double-double of 28 points and 18 rebounds. It was enough for Redbacks to edge Warrandyte (1-1) 93-90. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Vanderheydt is one of the most experienced players at RMIT and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 28.0ppg (#6). His other stats are also decent: 18.0rpg and 5.0apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was Milan Savic of Sunbury Jets (#10). Savic got into 30-points club by scoring 33 points in the last round. He went also for seven rebounds . Despite Savic's great performance the Jets lost 86-97 to Warrandyte (#6, 1-1). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The season just started for Savic as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.
