Big V Round 4 (Regular Season): No surprise as #1 Gippsland Utd defeat Wyndham

Big V top team - Pacers (4-0) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat tenth ranked Devils (1-3) 78-72. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Bryce Brown (203, college: Lindsey Wilson) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import swingman Ilisia Washington (194-1998, college: Regis Univ.) who added 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Malik Miller (205-1995, college: FDU) responded with 27 points and 5 rebounds. Pacers have a solid four-game winning streak. Gippsland Utd maintains first position with 4-0 record. Wyndham at the other side dropped to the ninth place with three games lost. They share the position with McKinnon. Gippsland Utd are looking forward to face league's second-placed RMIT in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Wyndham will play against Hume City (#8) in Tullamarine and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Melbourne Uni (0-4) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fourth consecutive match to ninth ranked Warriors (2-2) 102-91. The winners were led by forward Jackson Dean who scored that evening 24 points and 7 rebounds and Ryan Batte supported him with 22 points, 6 assists and 9 steals. Even 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Joel Rimes (196) did not help to save the game for Melbourne Uni. Melbourne Uni's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pakenham moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Bellarine. Melbourne Uni at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Pakenham will play against league's second-placed RMIT in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Melbourne Uni's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Melbourne Camberwell.

Camberwell have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 3-2 record. Loser Hume City Broncos dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. Camberwell's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Melbourne to the arena Melbourne Uni.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 4: McKinnon lost to Warrandyte on the opponent's court 85-92. Warrandyte was outscored by Bellarine in a home game 74-101. Hume City recorded a loss to Sunbury on the road 117-100.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 46 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists by Robbie Heath of Hume City.



Warrandyte - McKinnon 92-85

Rather expected game in Melbourne where 9th ranked Cougars (1-3) were defeated by seventh ranked Venom (3-3) 92-85 on Sunday. American guard Lanyc Shuler (185, college: West Liberty) fired 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Naturalized Croatian forward Ivan Platenik (201-1983, college: Alaska-Anch.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Joshua Mcqueen produced 20 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and American center Kierell Green (203-1997, college: Edinboro, agency: YoungGroup Unlimited) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Warrandyte and five McKinnon players scored in double figures. Cougars' coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Warrandyte moved-up to fifth place. McKinnon lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with Wyndham. Warrandyte will meet at home higher ranked Sunbury (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. McKinnon will play against Bellarine (#6) and hope to win that game.

American power forward Jayden Brown (203, college: CCSU, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. point guard Lewis Varley (186-1993) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized Croatian forward Ivan Platenik (201-1983, college: Alaska-Anch.) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Lanyc Shuler (185, college: West Liberty) added 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Four Bellarine and five Warrandyte players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
