Top ranked Pacers (5-0) recorded its 0th loss at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by third ranked Redbacks (3-2) 105-78. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Pacers. RMIT forced 22 Gippsland Utd turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Gippsland Utd's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Devon Vanderheydt (198, college: Lewis) who scored 29 points and 7 rebounds. Stephen Coffey chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds, 15 assists and 4 steals. American forward Bryce Brown (203, college: Lindsey Wilson) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. RMIT maintains third place with 3-2 record having just two points less than leader Gippsland Utd, which they share with Sunbury and Pakenham. Gippsland Utd at the other side still keeps top position with 0 game lost. RMIT is looking forward to face Hume City (#7) in Tullamarine in the next round. Gippsland Utd will play at home against the league's second-placed Warrandyte (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Pakenham moved-up to third place, which they share with RMIT and Sunbury. Pakenham will play against bottom-ranked Wyndham (#11) in Werribee in the next round and are hoping to win another game. RMIT will play at home against Hume City (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Cedric Anderson stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Hume City Broncos' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Malik Miller responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Hume City moved-up to seventh place. Wyndham lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with four games lost. They share it with Melbourne Uni. Hume City will meet higher ranked RMIT (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wyndham will play against Melbourne Uni (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 5 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
McKinnon defeated Bellarine in a road game 85-75. Sunbury beat Warrandyte at home 90-86. Bottom-ranked Melbourne Uni was destroyed by Camberwell on the opponent's court 112-89.

Bellarine - McKinnon 75-85

There was a minor upset in Bellarine where higher ranked Storm (2-3) was defeated by tenth ranked Cougars (2-3) 85-75 on Saturday. McKinnon dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Storm's 44. The game was dominated by American players. Center Kierell Green (203-1997, college: Edinboro, agency: YoungGroup Unlimited) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and guard Troyce Manassa (193-1993, college: SSU) chipped in 20 points. Guard Nick Carlson (193-2000, college: St.Scholastica, agency: Crossover Management) responded with 24 points and power forward Jayden Brown (203, college: CCSU, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Five McKinnon and four Bellarine players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. McKinnon moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Bellarine. McKinnon will meet higher ranked Camberwell (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bellarine will play against Sunbury and hope to secure a win.

No shocking result in a game in Sunbury where third ranked Jets (3-2) defeated 5th ranked Venom (4-3) 90-86 on Saturday. American guard Ishmael Sanders (188-1992, college: C-N) stepped up and scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Milan Savic chipped in 24 points and 4 assists. Four Jets players scored in double figures. Naturalized Croatian forward Ivan Platenik (201-1983, college: Alaska-Anch.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 19 rebounds and American guard Lanyc Shuler (185, college: West Liberty) scored 22 points and 6 assists. Jets have a solid series of three victories in a row. Sunbury maintains third place with 3-2 record having just two points less than leader Gippsland Utd, which they share with RMIT and Pakenham. Loser Venom dropped to the second position with three games lost. Sunbury will meet at home Bellarine (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Warrandyte will play against the league's leader Gippsland Utd (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
