Big V is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 9 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Pacers (7-2) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Camberwell (6-4) 90-85. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Pacers. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for forward Jackson Meshanic (201-2000, college: Hobart) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. point guard Brennen Burns (178-2002, college: SHSU) contributed with 20 points and 6 assists for the winners. Camberwell's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Swingman Ilisia Washington (194-1998, college: Regis Univ., agency: Dominion Sports Group) answered with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for Gippsland Utd. Camberwell moved-up to third place, which they share with Pakenham. Gippsland Utd at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Camberwell is looking forward to face RMIT (#6) in the next round. Gippsland Utd will play against Pakenham (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game for Sunbury (7-3) which played on the court of Pakenham (6-4). Second ranked Sunbury crushed hosts 88-68. American guard Ishmael Sanders (188-1992, college: C-N) stepped up and scored 35 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds for the winners and Nathan Marshall chipped in 7 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Jets' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was forward Atien Acuel (201-2001, agency: Crossover Management) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Sunbury maintains second place with 7-3 record having just one point less than leader Gippsland Utd. Pakenham at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with Camberwell. Sunbury will play against Hume City (#5) in Tullamarine in the next round. Pakenham will play against the league's leader Gippsland Utd and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Joshua Mcqueen nailed 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Lachlan Wood came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 20 rebounds for Hume City in the defeat. McKinnon maintains seventh place with 5-5 record. Loser Hume City Broncos dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. McKinnon will meet at home Melbourne Uni (#9) in the next round. Hume City will play against the league's second-placed Sunbury (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 9: Sunbury was beaten by RMIT on the road 80-62. Warrandyte won against Wyndham on its own court 104-86. Melbourne Uni managed to outperform Bellarine in a road game 108-98.
The most impressive performance of 9th round was 37 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds by Oliver Stanley of Melbourne Uni.




Hume City - McKinnon 71-72

A very close game took place in Tullamarine between Cougars and Hume City Broncos. Seventh ranked Cougars (5-5) got a very close victory on the road over 3rd placed Hume City Broncos (6-5). Cougars managed to escape with a 1-point win 72-71 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Hume City Broncos. McKinnon forced 20 Hume City turnovers. Joshua Mcqueen nailed 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Troyce Manassa (193-1993, college: SSU) accounted for 18 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Lachlan Wood (-2002) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 20 rebounds and American guard Ricardo Time (188, college: Idaho Coll.) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Hume City in the defeat. McKinnon maintains seventh place with 5-5 record. Loser Hume City Broncos dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. McKinnon will meet at home Melbourne Uni (#9) in the next round. Hume City will play against the league's second-placed Sunbury (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Redbacks (5-4) beat at home second-best Jets (7-3) 80-62 on Sunday. RMIT had a 37-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Devon Vanderheydt (198, college: Lewis) nailed 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and center Zachary Coleman-Bock (201-1997) accounted for 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Guard Nathan Marshall came up with 14 points and guard Jai Everitt added 11 points respectively for Sunbury in the defeat. Four Sunbury players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. RMIT moved-up to sixth place. Loser Jets keeps the second position with three games lost. RMIT will meet at home higher ranked Camberwell (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sunbury will play against Hume City in Tullamarine and hope to secure a win.

Rather expected game when 11th ranked Devils (2-8) lost to eighth ranked Venom (5-6) in Melbourne 86-104 on Saturday. Warrandyte looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Wyndham's players. American guard Lanyc Shuler (185, college: West Liberty, agency: Dominion Sports Group) nailed 28 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and naturalized Croatian forward Ivan Platenik (201-1983, college: Alaska-Anch.) accounted for 17 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Five Venom players scored in double figures. American forward Supreme Cook (206, college: Oregon) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import forward Malik Miller (205-1995, college: FDU) added 26 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Wyndham in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Warrandyte maintains eighth place with 5-6 record. Loser Devils stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Warrandyte will meet higher ranked RMIT (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
