Regular Season Round 3: Perth - SE Melbourne 89-90

Perth Wildcats (2-1) recorded a loss at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were edged by Melbourne Phoenix (3-5) 90-89. Strangely Perth Wildcats outrebounded Melbourne Phoenix 43-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Mitch Creek (196-92) who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Keifer Sykes (183-93, college: Green Bay, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 19 points and 8 assists. Four Melbourne Phoenix players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Bryce Cotton (182-92, college: Providence, agency: Pensack Sports) who recorded 32 points and 6 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the other American import forward John Mooney (206-97, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) added 19 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Perth Wildcats' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Melbourne Phoenix are looking forward to face Illawarra Hawks in Gwynneville in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Perth Wildcats will play on the road against United (#3) in Melbourne and are hoping to win this game.
