Important game to mention about took place in Brisbane. Bullets (3-4) saved a 2-point victory at home edging Cairns Taipans (2-9) 105-103 on Saturday evening. Bullets made 34-of-36 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game, while Cairns Taipans only scored ten points from the stripe. Bullets brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Cairns Taipans were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American Victor Law (198-95, college: Northwestern) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). International guard Nathan Sobey (190-90, college: Wyoming) contributed with 30 points and 4 assists for the winners. Brazilian-American guard Scott Machado (186-90, college: Iona) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and American forward Cameron Oliver (203-96, college: Nevada) added 21 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Cairns Taipans. Five Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. Cairns Taipans' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Bullets will again play against Cairns Taipans (#8) on the road in the next round. Cairns Taipans will play against New Zealand Breakers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
