Regular Season Round 4: Cairns - NZL Breakers 84-71

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked New Zealand Breakers (1-3) were defeated on the road by ninth ranked Cairns Taipans (2-6) 84-71 on Monday. Worth to mention a great performance of Brazilian-American guard Scott Machado (186-90, college: Iona) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 assists and South Sudanese forward Majok Deng (208-93, college: ULM) who added 23 points during the contest. Four Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. At the losing side New Zealand guard Tai Webster (193-95, college: Nebraska) responded with 15 points and New Zealand forward Finn Delany (198-95, college: SW Baptist) scored 11 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Cairns Taipans moved-up to seventh place. Loser New Zealand Breakers dropped to the bottom position with three games lost.
