Date: February 11, 2021
Another exciting game was between eighth ranked Perth Wildcats and 4th placed Melbourne Phoenix where Perth Wildcats (2-2) rolled over Melbourne Phoenix (3-4) on the road with 31-point difference 106-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Melbourne Phoenix. They outrebounded Melbourne Phoenix 42-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Perth Wildcats players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Melbourne Phoenix's players. American forward John Mooney (206-97, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. The former international swingman Todd Blanchfield (200-91) contributed with 22 points and 4 assists for the winners. International guard Kyle Adnam (186-93) answered with 24 points and 4 assists and the former international swingman Mitch Creek (196-92) added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Melbourne Phoenix. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place. Melbourne Phoenix at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Perth Wildcats will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Melbourne Phoenix will play again at home against Perth Wildcats (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
