The most exciting game of round 6 in the NBL took place in Sydney. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th ranked Kings (3-4) to third ranked Illawarra Hawks (5-2) 85-82 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kings. Illawarra Hawks had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Illawarra Hawks made 7 blocks. It was a good game for American guard Tyler Harvey (194-93, college: EWU) who led his team to a victory with 25 points. The former international forward Cameron Bairstow (206-90, college: N.Mexico) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Illawarra Hawks players scored in double figures. Illawarra Hawks' coach Brian Goorjian used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Casper Ware (178-90, college: LBSU) replied with 21 points and 6 assists and naturalized Canadian guard Dejan Vasiljevic (190-97, college: Miami, FL) added 18 points in the effort for Kings. Illawarra Hawks moved-up to second place. Kings at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Brisbane. Illawarra Hawks are looking forward to face Cairns Taipans (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Kings will play against Adelaide 36ers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
