Regular Season Round 7: Melbourne - Perth 85-89

Date: February 20, 2021
The most surprising game was the first loss of United (6-1) in Melbourne on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked Perth Wildcats (3-3) 89-85. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of United. Perth Wildcats made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American guard Bryce Cotton (182-92, college: Providence, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 7 assists (made all of his twelve free throws !!!). His fellow American import forward John Mooney (206-97, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) helped adding 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Perth Wildcats players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center Jock Landale (211-95, college: St.Mary's, CA) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Mitchell McCarron (189-92, college: MSU Denver) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place. United at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Perth Wildcats are looking forward to face higher ranked Kings (#5) in Sydney in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. United will play at home against Cairns Taipans (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
