An interesting game for United (8-1) which played road game in Findon against 3rd placed Adelaide 36ers (6-6). First ranked United managed to get a 9-point victory 82-73. United made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. United outrebounded Adelaide 36ers 44-31 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. The former international guard Mitchell McCarron (189-92, college: MSU Denver) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Scotty Hopson (200-89, college: Tennessee, agency: GroundUp) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international power forward Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine) with 14 points and 8 rebounds and international guard Joshua Giddey (203-2) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. United maintains first place with 8-1 record. Adelaide 36ers at the other side keep the third position with six games lost. United will play against Kings (#6) in Sydney in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Adelaide 36ers will play at home against New Zealand Breakers and hope to get back on the winning track.
