There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Melbourne Phoenix (6-7) lost at home to seventh ranked Kings (6-7) 91-85. They made 17-of-18 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Casper Ware (178-90, college: LBSU) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Naturalized Canadian guard Dejan Vasiljevic (190-97, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 19 points. Kings' coach Adam Forde used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Mitch Creek (196-92) who recorded 22 points and 8 rebounds and New Zealand guard Izayah Mauriohooho-Leafa (188-96, college: Sacramento St.) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kings moved-up to sixth place, which they share with SE Melbourne. Kings' next round opponent will be higher ranked Illawarra Hawks (#3) in Gwynneville and it may be quite challenging game.
