No shocking result in a game when second ranked Perth Wildcats (11-4) beat at home bottom-ranked Cairns Taipans (4-14) 93-75 on Friday. Perth Wildcats outrebounded Cairns Taipans 44-33 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Bryce Cotton (182-92, college: Providence, agency: Pensack Sports) who led the winners and scored 28 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward John Mooney (206-98, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) accounted for 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Naturalized Sudanese forward Kouat Noi (201-97, college: TCU) came up with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Brazilian-American guard Scott Machado (186-90, college: Iona) added 16 points respectively for Cairns Taipans in the defeat. Four Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Perth Wildcats have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 11-4 record behind leader Melbourne. Cairns Taipans lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Perth Wildcats will meet Kings (#6) in the next round. Cairns Taipans will play against Adelaide 36ers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
