An interesting game for United (12-5) which hosted in Melbourne 3rd placed Illawarra Hawks (9-7). First ranked United managed to get a 10-point victory 75-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Illawarra Hawks. United had a 40-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international center Jock Landale (211-95, college: St.Mary's, CA) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) helped adding 16 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was international power forward Samson Froling (212-0, college: Creighton) with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Tyler Harvey (194-93, college: EWU) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Illawarra Hawks' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. United maintains first place with 12-5 record. Illawarra Hawks at the other side keep the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Brisbane and SE Melbourne. United's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Melbourne United.
