Regular Season Round 16: SE Melbourne - Melbourne 60-80
Date: March 27, 2021
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Melbourne: United (#1) and Melbourne Phoenix (#3). Melbourne Phoenix was smashed at home by 20 points 60-80 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Melbourne Phoenix. The winners were led by the former international guard Mitchell McCarron (189-92, college: MSU Denver) who scored that evening 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) supported him with 25 points. Even 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by international swingman Cameron Gliddon (197-89, college: CUI) did not help to save the game for Melbourne Phoenix. American forward Ben Moore (203-95, college: SMU) added 12 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. United have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-5 record. Melbourne Phoenix at the other side dropped to the fourth place with eight games lost.
