Regular Season Round 19: Melbourne - NZL Breakers 84-78

NBL top team - United (18-5) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eighth ranked New Zealand Breakers (5-13) in Melbourne 84-78. United made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was a quality performance for the former international center Jock Landale (211-95, college: St.Mary's, CA) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. American swingman Scotty Hopson (200-89, college: Tennessee, agency: GroundUp) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. New Zealand forward Finn Delany (198-95, college: SW Baptist) came up with 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and guard William McDowell-White (196-98, college: Fresno St.) added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for New Zealand Breakers in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. United have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 18-5 record. New Zealand Breakers at the other side keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. United will play against league's second-placed Perth Wildcats on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. New Zealand Breakers will play against Illawarra Hawks (#4) and hope to get back on the winning track.
