Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Adelaide: Panthers (#6) and Rockets (#4). Panthers (1-0) smashed visiting Rockets (0-1) by 21 points 87-66. Panthers dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Rockets' 40. Panthers forced 22 Rockets turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Forward Olivia Thompson (185-93) fired a double-double by scoring 31 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Forward Ashleigh Spencer (181-92) chipped in 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Guard Taylor Ortlepp (178-97, college: Boston Coll.) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and Samantha Defrancesco added 13 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panthers left bottom position moving up to third place in League. Rockets at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Panthers' next round opponent will be Mavericks (#7) in Mt. Barker. Rockets will play at home against Warriors and hope to get finally their first victory.
