A very interesting game took place in Cairns. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Adelaide 36ers (9-14) to ninth ranked Cairns Taipans (6-17) 91-88 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Adelaide 36ers. Cairns Taipans players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The winners were led by American forward Cameron Oliver (203-96, college: Nevada) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds and the former international point guard Tad Dufelmeier (183-96, college: CUI) supported him with 12 points and 8 assists. Five Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. Even 24 points and 4 assists by the former international power forward Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine) did not help to save the game for Adelaide 36ers. The former international forward Jack McVeigh (203-96, college: Nebraska) added 22 points for the guests. Cairns Taipans maintains ninth position with 6-17 record. Adelaide 36ers at the other side keep the seventh place with 14 games lost. Cairns Taipans' next round opponent will be higher ranked Kings (#5) in Sydney and it may be quite challenging game.
