Regular Season Round 5: Goldfields G. - Perry Lakes H. 89-100
Date: April 17, 2021
Everything could happen in Kalgoorlie at the game between two tied teams. Both leader Hawks and bottom-ranked Giants had identical 0-0 record. But Giants were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from Floreat 100-89 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the second position in League. Hawks forced 26 Giants turnovers. Strangely Giants outrebounded Hawks 40-23 including 17 on the offensive glass. The former international forward Ben Purser (200-90, college: Augusta) stepped up and scored 18 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and center Andrew Ferguson (213-98, college: CS Monterey) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Hawks' coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Forward Deng Kuany (201, college: ENMU) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and guard Damon Ballantyne (194-90, college: GMC) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds.
