Regular Season Round 8: Nunawading S. - Sandringham S. 96-61

Date: April 25, 2021
No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Spectres (2-0) crushed 14th ranked Sabres (1-2) in East Burwood 96-61 on Sunday. Spectres outrebounded Sabres 44-30 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Sabres' players. Thomas Wright orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 5 assists. Power forward Simon Conn (206-83, college: Gardner-Webb) contributed with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Spectres players scored in double figures. Guard Kuany Kuany (201-94, college: Chaminade) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and Clancy Bird added 10 points in the effort for Sabres. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Spectres moved-up to second place in League. Loser Sabres keep the fourteenth position with two games lost. Spectres will face Eltham Wildcats (#17) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Sabres will play against NW Tasmania Thunder and hope to win that game.
