The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Wildcats as it allowed them to take a leadership position in League. Wildcats defeated 11th ranked Spectres in Eltham 87-74. Wildcats made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. Wildcats outrebounded Spectres 42-26 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was swingman Anneli Maley (188-98, college: TCU) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds. Guard Lily Scanlon (175-1, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Five Wildcats players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was New Zealand forward Penina Davidson (190-95, college: California) who recorded 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and the former international guard Rachel Antoniadou (175-96, college: FSU) added 17 points and 9 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Spectres at the other side dropped to the fourteenth place with two games lost. Spectres will play next round against Geelong Supercats trying to get back on the winning streak. Wildcats will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Tornadoes in Launceston.
