Everything went according to plan in Crows Nest where third ranked Norths Soul Sports Bears (4-1) won against 8th ranked Newcastle Hunters (1-2) 78-66 on Saturday. Strangely Newcastle Hunters outrebounded Norths Soul Sports Bears 40-22 including a 28-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Anatoly Bose who scored 31 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Jayden Hodgson (190-97, college: GVSU) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized South Sudanese forward Chier Maker (203-95, college: Idaho St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 19 rebounds and forward Myles Cherry (203-98, college: Lafayette) added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Norths Soul Sports Bears maintains third place in League with 4-1 record having just three point less than leader Geelong S. Loser Newcastle Hunters dropped to the tenth position with two games lost. Norths Soul Sports Bears will face Sutherland Sharks (#7) on the road in the next round. Newcastle Hunters will play against Bulls in Inner West and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
