Undefeated Buccaneers (0-1) recorded its first loss in Kalgoorlie on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by eleventh ranked Giants (1-1) 103-69. Giants made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Buccaneers turnovers and outrebounded them 52-32 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Giants looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Swingman Julian Pesava (193-95, college: WBU) notched 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Deng Kuany (201, college: ENMU) supported him with 28 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds by naturalized South Sudanese swingman Mathiang Muo (196-87, college: Charleston So.) did not help to save the game for Buccaneers. Naturalized South Sudanese guard Tito Kwajakwan (180-91) added 9 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Giants left bottom position moving up to sixth place in League. Loser Buccaneers still closes the standings with one game lost. Giants will meet Cougars (#12) in the next round where they are favorite. Buccaneers will play against Flames and hope to get finally their first victory.
