Everything could happen in Northbridge at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Redbacks and 7th ranked Eagles had identical 1-1 record. This time Redbacks used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Morley 82-71 on Friday night. Redbacks dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Eagles' 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Maddison Allen (190-93, college: Santa Clara) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 18 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. American guard Makailah Dyer (175, college: N.Dakota) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Five Redbacks players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was New Zealand forward Mary Goulding (183-96, college: Fordham) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and Opal Mader (-97) added 15 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Redbacks (2-1) moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Eagles dropped to the ninth position with two games lost. Redbacks will face higher ranked Flames (#3) in Rockingham in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Eagles will play on the road against Slammers (#12) in Bunbury and hope to win that game.
