There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Redbacks (1-2) won against 10th ranked Eagles (1-4) in Northbridge 79-65 on Friday. Redbacks shot 21 for 30 from the free-throw line, while Eagles only scored five points from the stripe. Redbacks forced 23 Eagles turnovers. Eagles were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Isaac Gattorna-Hargrave (203-99) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Louis Timms (206-91, college: WBU) contributed with 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Mitch Benger answered with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Andrej Donlagic (197-97) added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Eagles. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Redbacks left bottom position moving up to tenth place in League. Loser Eagles dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. Redbacks will face Flames (#11) in Rockingham in the next round. Eagles will play on the road against Slammers in Bunbury and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
