Regular Season Round 12: Willetton T. - Perry Lakes H. 80-55

There was an upset in Willetton where higher ranked Hawks (1-1) were outplayed by eleventh ranked Tigers (2-1) 80-55 on Saturday. Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Hawks' 36. Tigers forced 19 Hawks turnovers and outrebounded them 52-40 including 20 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Alexandra Sharp (185-97, college: Wake Forest) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 20 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Samantha Lubcke (188-96, college: Utah Valley) chipped in 26 points and 7 rebounds. Four Tigers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Natalie Burton (194-89, college: WVU) who recorded 10 points and 8 rebounds and Morgan Ballantyne added 11 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tigers moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Hawks dropped to the eighth position with one game lost. Tigers will face league's second-placed Cougars in Hamilton Hill in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hawks will play on the road against Suns (#11) in Kalamunda and hope to win that game.
