Rather expected game when 4th placed Tigers (3-1) lost to leader Hawks (3-0) in Willetton 68-86 on Saturday. It was a key game for the top position in League. Hawks outrebounded Tigers 49-37 including a 39-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Naturalized British forward Lewis Thomas (203-92, college: WOU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Ben Purser (200-90, college: Augusta) contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Four Hawks players scored in double figures. Guard Damien Scott (192-92) answered with 24 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized Scottish power forward Michael Vigor (206-90) added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Tigers. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hawks keep a position of League leader. Loser Tigers keep the fourth place with one game lost. Hawks will face Suns (#13) in Kalamunda in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Tigers will play on the road against Cougars (#6) in Hamilton Hill and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
