There was an upset when higher ranked Flames (1-2) were edged by twelfth ranked Buccaneers (1-1) in Wonthella 85-82 on Saturday. Strangely Flames outrebounded Buccaneers 45-31 including 18 on the offensive glass. Naturalized South Sudanese swingman Mathiang Muo (196-87, college: Charleston So.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. Swingman Aaron Ralph (200-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Buccaneers' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Greg Hire (201-87, college: Augusta) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Callum Beard (202-0) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Flames. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Buccaneers left bottom position moving up to ninth place in League. Loser Flames dropped to the eleventh position with two games lost. Buccaneers will face higher ranked Lightning (#5) in North Lake in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Flames will play at home against Redbacks (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
