There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Cougars (2-2) defeated higher ranked Giants (2-2) in Hamilton Hill 88-74 on Sunday. Cougars outrebounded Giants 48-35 including 35 on the defensive glass. Giants were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized Greek swingman Nic Pozoglou (196-96) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Seva Chan (187-94) contributed with 11 points and 7 assists for the winners. Cougars' coach used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Swingman Julian Pesava (193-95, college: WBU) answered with 26 points and 8 rebounds and forward Tom Atkinson (198-98) added 16 points in the effort for Giants. Cougars moved-up to sixth place in League. Cougars will face higher ranked Tigers (#4) in Willetton in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Giants will play at home against Wanneroo (#3) and hope to win that game.
