There was a minor upset in Mount Waverley where 6th ranked Bendigo Braves (5-4) were defeated by ninth ranked Waverley Falcons (5-2) 100-89 on Sunday. Waverley Falcons looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Durrell McDonald (188, college: Mercyhurst) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals and guard Dexter Kernich-Drew (199-91, college: WSU) who added 28 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) with 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and point guard Brennan Rymer (183, college: Azusa Pacific) scored 10 points and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Bendigo Braves' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Waverley Falcons moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Bendigo Braves dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Waverley Falcons will face Tigers (#18) in Melbourne in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Bendigo Braves will play at home against Ballarat Miners (#12) and hope to win that game.
