There was no surprise in Launceston where 15th ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (2-7) were edged by fourth ranked Tornadoes (7-2) 82-79 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was a great evening for guard Mariah Payne (170, college: Minot St.) who led her team to a victory scoring 30 points and 7 rebounds. American swingman DAsia Chambers (182-92, college: Slippery Rock) helped adding 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four Tornadoes players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Sherrie Calleia with 32 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and guard Hannah Young (178-93, college: Kent St.) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Tornadoes moved-up to second place in League. Loser Mount Gambier Pioneers keep the fifteenth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
