Everything went according to plan in Rockhampton where fifth ranked Mackay Meteors (3-1) won against bottom-ranked Rockets (0-3) 96-85 on Saturday. American swingman Jerron Jamerson (193, college: Goshen) fired 24 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Naturalized South Sudanese center Emmanuel Malou (206-93, college: Iowa St., agency: BIG) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Kon Anguik (196, college: Simpson, CA) produced 15 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Josh Wilcher (178-91, college: Cent.Wyoming) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Mackay Meteors moved-up to third place in League. Loser Rockets still closes the standings with three games lost. Mackay Meteors will have a break next round. Rockets will play on the road against Phoenix (#9) in Cotton Tree and hope to get finally their first victory.
