There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Spiders (2-6) edged on the road 4th placed Canberra Gunners (6-3) 106-103 on Saturday. Spiders had a 37-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. Lochlainn Simpson fired a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Malok Majak chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Akech Aliir produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and center Glenn Morison (208, college: St.Edward's) added 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Canberra Gunners' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Spiders moved-up to twelfth place in League. Loser Canberra Gunners keep the fourth position with three games lost. Spiders will face Crusaders (#14) in Terrigal in the next round. Canberra Gunners will play on the road against Sydney City Comets (#7) in Alexandria and hope to win that game.
