Very expected game when 5th ranked Wanneroo (4-3) was smashed by first ranked Hawks (6-1) in Floreat 118-87 on Tuesday. Hawks made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Hawks outrebounded Wanneroo 42-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Guard Mitchell Clarke (185-99) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 6 assists. Center Andrew Ferguson (213-98, college: CS Monterey) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Five Hawks players scored in double figures. Jonathan Wade replied with 34 points (!!!) and New Zealand forward Sioeli Vaiangina (202-98, college: Panola JC) added 14 points in the effort for Wanneroo. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hawks maintains first position in League with 6-1 record. Loser Wanneroo dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. Hawks will face Slammers (#10) in Bunbury in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Wanneroo will play on the road against Suns (#14) in Kalamunda and hope to win that game.
