There was a minor upset in Kalgoorlie where 9th ranked Giants (4-8) were edged by eleventh ranked Suns (4-8) 99-96 on Saturday. Suns forced 19 Giants turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American forward Chris Johnson (201-90, college: UIW) fired 27 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Jermaine Malie (185-96) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Johnson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Suns' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Deng Kuany (201, college: ENMU) produced 22 points and 5 rebounds and Hamish Cummings added 20 points and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Suns moved-up to ninth place in League. Suns will meet higher ranked Senators (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Giants will play against Magic and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
