Not a big story in a game in Taigum where 10th ranked Brisbane Spartans (4-4) were defeated by sixth ranked Northside Wizards (4-4) 98-88 on Saturday. Northside Wizards dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Brisbane Spartans' 26. Northside Wizards had a 35-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Kyle Logan (188, college: Manchester) fired 33 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Jesse Ghee (183, college: Fullerton JC) chipped in 21 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Four Northside Wizards players scored in double figures. American swingman Lamar Patterson (196-91, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Wasserman) produced 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Josh Derksen (206-95, college: KWC) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Northside Wizards went down to ninth position (League) due to points difference. Northside Wizards will meet South West Metro Pirates (#12) in the next round. Brisbane Spartans will play against Rockets (#14) and hope to secure a win.
