Everything went according to plan when second ranked Lightning (10-2) defeated 13th ranked Cougars (3-9) in North Lake 85-67 on Friday. Lightning outrebounded Cougars 47-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. American swingman Jay Bowie (196-92, college: Marist) nailed 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and center Jarrad Prue (198-82) accounted for 10 points and 21 rebounds. Naturalized Greek swingman Nic Pozoglou (196-96) came up with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals and guard Josh Hunt (194-2) added 13 points respectively for Cougars in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lightning maintains second place in League with 10-2 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Perry Lakes H. Loser Cougars dropped to the twelfth position with nine games lost. Lightning will meet Suns (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cougars will play against Wanneroo in Joondalup and hope to secure a win.
