Everything went according to plan when third ranked Huskies (8-3) outplayed 9th ranked Bendigo Braves (5-6) in Hobart 118-95 on Friday. Huskies forced 21 Bendigo Braves turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 24 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Huskies looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Koen Sapwell (193, college: CS Monterey) nailed 28 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and forward Jack Purchase (206-95, college: Hawaii) accounted for 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) came up with 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and point guard Brennan Rymer (183, college: Azusa Pacific) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively for Bendigo Braves in the defeat. Four Huskies and five Bendigo Braves players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Huskies maintains third place in League with 8-3 record having just three points less than leader Perry Lakes H. Loser Bendigo Braves keep the ninth position with six games lost. Huskies will meet at home Spectres (#7) in the next round. Bendigo Braves will play against Dandenong Rangers and hope to secure a win.
