The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Hawks as it allowed them to take a leadership position in League. Hawks smashed 7th ranked Redbacks in Floreat 97-74. They outrebounded Redbacks 49-34 including a 40-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Center Andrew Ferguson (213-98, college: CS Monterey) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Naturalized British forward Lewis Thomas (203-92, college: WOU) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Hawks players scored in double figures. Power forward Isaac Gattorna-Hargrave (203-99) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Belgian guard Marshall Nelson (188-94, college: WBU) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Redbacks. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Redbacks at the other side dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. Redbacks will play next round against Suns trying to get back on the winning streak. Hawks will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Magic in Mandurah.
