No shocking result in a game when first ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (9-2) beat 9th ranked Bendigo Braves (5-6) in Ulverstone 82-70 on Saturday. NW Tasmania Thunder outrebounded Bendigo Braves 43-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. New Zealand center Mike Karena (210-93, college: Wright St.) nailed 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and swingman Joe Chilcott (193-96) accounted for 17 points. American forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) came up with 26 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Brennan Rymer (183, college: Azusa Pacific) added 12 points respectively for Bendigo Braves in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. NW Tasmania Thunder maintains first place in League with 9-2 record. Loser Bendigo Braves keep the ninth position with six games lost. NW Tasmania Thunder will meet at home Spectres (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Bendigo Braves will play against Dandenong Rangers and hope to secure a win.
