Everything went according to plan when third ranked Brisbane Capitals (6-3) outplayed at home bottom-ranked Rockets (0-11) 108-86 on Saturday. Brisbane Capitals dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Rockets' 40. They outrebounded Rockets 50-38 including 21 on the offensive glass. Brisbane Capitals looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Rockets' players. Center Ben Volkman (206, college: Maryville, MO) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and Nicholas Stoddart (-0) accounted for 17 points and 6 assists. Five Brisbane Capitals players scored in double figures. American guard Najeal Young (198-94, college: TxWes) came up with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and the former international point guard Josh Wilcher (178-91, college: Cent.Wyoming) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Rockets in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brisbane Capitals maintains third place in League with 6-3 record having seven points less than leader Perry Lakes H. Loser Rockets still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Brisbane Capitals will meet at home Ipswich Force (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rockets will play against Townsville Heat and hope to get finally their first victory.
