Very important is a road loss of second ranked Mackay Meteors (6-2) against fifth ranked Rip City (5-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Mackay Meteors were defeated by Rip City in Sippy Downs 97-80. Rip City forced 20 Mackay Meteors turnovers. The former international guard Tanner Krebs (198-96, college: St.Mary's, CA) nailed a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for the winning side and guard Isaih Tueta (187-91) accounted for 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Rip City players scored in double figures. Rip City's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Harrison Froling (211-98, college: Marquette) came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Chris Cedar (188-88) added 21 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Mackay Meteors in the defeat. Rip City moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Mackay Meteors keep the second position with two games lost. Rip City will meet Northside Wizards (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mackay Meteors will play against Townsville Heat (#5) and hope to secure a win.
