Regular Season Round 24: Kilsyth LC - Mt Gambier 90-60

Rather expected game in Kilsyth where 15th ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (2-9) were rolled over by twelfth ranked Lady Cobras (4-4) 90-60 on Saturday. Lady Cobras dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Mount Gambier Pioneers' 26. Lady Cobras looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Mount Gambier Pioneers' players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Lauren Scherf (196-96) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Briahna Whatman (170-94) who added 20 points during the contest. Five Lady Cobras players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Jasmin Howe (173-95, college: NW Missouri St.) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Sherrie Calleia scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Mount Gambier Pioneers' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Lady Cobras moved-up to ninth place in League. Loser Mount Gambier Pioneers keep the fifteenth position with nine games lost. Lady Cobras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mount Gambier Pioneers will play against Spectres (#6) in East Burwood and hope to secure a win.
