There was an upset in Mount Waverley where top-ranked Frankston Blues (10-3) were defeated by sixth ranked Waverley Falcons (8-3) 89-71 on Sunday. Waverley Falcons dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Frankston Blues' 30. They outrebounded Frankston Blues 50-34 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Daniel Dillon (193-86, college: Arizona) who scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Michael Harper (193, college: Simon Fraser) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Dan Trist (206-92, college: Lafayette) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and guard Alister MacDonald (186-92) added 16 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Waverley Falcons moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Frankston Blues still keep top position with three games lost. Waverley Falcons will meet at home Spectres (#7) in the next round. Frankston Blues will play against Diamond Valley Eagles (#13) in Greensborough and hope to secure a win.
