The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Geelong Supercats' (8-5) home loss to fourth ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (10-4) 90-96 on Friday. Mount Gambier Pioneers made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for the former international guard Tom Daly (182-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 40 points (!!!) and 5 assists. American center Nick Marshall (213, college: Union, KY) helped adding 20 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side forward George Blagojevic (203-97, college: Hartford) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Gabriel Hadley (190-98) scored 23 points and 8 rebounds. Five Geelong Supercats players scored in double figures. Mount Gambier Pioneers maintains fourth place in League with 10-4 record. Loser Geelong Supercats dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Mount Gambier Pioneers will meet at home Eastern Mavericks (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Geelong Supercats will play against Bendigo Braves (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
