Regular Season Round 19: SW Slammers - Mandurah M. 69-85

Very expected game in Bunbury where 14th ranked Slammers (2-8) were defeated by eighth ranked Magic (8-6) 85-69 on Friday. Magic forced 23 Slammers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for guard Jerami Grace (190-94, college: Langston) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 6 assists. Brazilian-American guard Scott Machado (186-90, college: Iona) helped adding 12 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 8 steals. At the losing side Caleb Van De Griend responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and center Mitch Keller (203-96, college: Delta St.) scored 18 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Magic moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Slammers keep the fourteenth position with eight games lost. Magic will meet at home higher ranked Tigers (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Slammers will play against the league's leader Hawks (#1) in Floreat and hope to secure a win.
