Regular Season Round 19: SD Spartans - Mackay M. 80-99

Very expected game when 6th ranked Brisbane Spartans (5-5) were rolled over at home by second ranked Mackay Meteors (8-2) 99-80 on Saturday. Mackay Meteors outrebounded Brisbane Spartans 47-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international center Harrison Froling (211-98, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Chris Cedar (188-88) helped adding 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Mackay Meteors players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Andre Ugrinic (193) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and center Harrison Rouhliadeff (205-3) scored 11 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mackay Meteors maintains second place in League with 8-2 record having 4 victories less than leader Perry Lakes H. Loser Brisbane Spartans keep the sixth position with five games lost. Mackay Meteors will meet at home league's leader Thunder in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Brisbane Spartans will play against Ipswich Force (#10) and hope to secure a win.
